Former Rainbow Warrior star makes boxing debut

Despite the protective headgear, you’d recognize that face.

Former University of Hawai’i All-Big West forward Christian Standhardinger made his boxing debut tonight, taking on Antonio Toetu’u at Palolo Boxing Club.

Standhardinger, who had only practiced for a month before the showdown, showed well but tired late.

Toetu’u won the fight by points (decision) after three two-minute rounds.

The German hoopster, who averaged 18.1 points and 8.4 rebounds in 2013/2014, hopes to continue his basketball career professionally.
