Firefighters extinguish brush fire in East Oahu

Honolulu firefighters battled a brush fire in East Oahu Tuesday evening.

The call came in 5:42 p.m.

A Honolulu Fire Dept. spokesperson said the fire burned 2.5 acres near the Pele’s chair area below Makapuu Lighthouse Trail.

The fire was declared under control at 7:24 p.m. and extinguished at 7:55 p.m.

No people or structures were in danger and no roads had to be closed.

Officials said the cause of the fire is undetermined but there was no report of suspicious activity.
