Unexploded ordnance prompted Moanalua Freeway off-ramp closures

MOANALUA FREEWAY TRAFFIC

Honolulu police have re-opened the off-ramps from Moanalua Fwy. heading into Fort Shafter in the east- and west-bound directions.

Both off-ramps were previously closed due to a military investigation.

According to an Army statement, an unidentified unexploded ordnance was found by a contractor doing work near the front gate of Fort Shafter at approximately 3:30 p.m.

The Army’s 706th Explosive Ordnance Detachment at Fort Shafter determined that the ordnance is a dud with no explosive.

Normal operations and traffic flow were restored.
