An 18-year-old girl is dead after a single-moped crash in Hawaii Kai.
The accident was reported just after 11 p.m. Wednesday on Lunalilo Home Road near Kaiser High School.
According to Honolulu Police Department Lt. Bobby Towne, the teenager was found on the roadway when police arrived on the scene. She was declared dead at the scene.
Police say the moped rider apparently had lost control and struck a metal pole. She was not wearing a helmet.
It is unknown if unknown if alcohol was involved at this time.
Police are investigating the cause of the accident and are asking for anyone who may have witnessed it to call them.
