An iconic site in Waikiki is ready to show-off its new look.

The Rainbow Mural at the Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort has just been restored thanks to a $4 million investment by Hilton Worldwide.

The original mural was unveiled in 1968 and had more than 16,000 hand-painted ceramic tiles on two-sides of the Rainbow Tower.

The restoration project started in September 2013 with the removal of the existing tiles from both sides of the tower.

The new mural features about twice that number with more than 31,000 tiles.

It will be unveiled at 5 p.m. Monday with a traditional Hawaiian blessing and dedication ceremony.
