Woman drowns at Hanauma Bay

The Honolulu Police Department Criminal Investigation Division has reported that there was an unattended death at Hanauma Bay Sunday morning.

Emergency Medical Services (EMS) initially responded to the drowning after a call came in at 9:57 a.m. of a 42-year-old female who was snorkeling, 70 yards offshore.

She was initially conscious with difficulty breathing, then lapsed into unconsciousness with no pulse.

Ocean Safety personnel then performed CPR, got her pulse back, and EMS transported her to a hospital in critical condition where she later expired.
