Obama encouraging family-friendly work policies

President Barack Obama is set to roll out some new initiatives to make the workplace more family friendly.

The President is hosting a daylong summit for working families today to bring them together with business leaders.

Among other things, President Obama is releasing funds to help workers access child care while in training and launching a study of paid leave programs.

The United States is the only industrialized nation that doesn’t mandate paid leave for mothers of newborns, although Obama says he’d like to see that change.

President Obama is also directing federal agencies to implement existing flexible workplace policies to the maximum possible extent.
