A man accused of throwing a 31-year-old Japanese female visitor off a cliff was sentenced to prison Wednesday.
Justin Klein, 38, pleaded guilty back in March to a lesser charge of reckless endangerment to avoid going to trial for a previous charge of attempted murder.
In the agreement, Klein, who had been on the run for four months after the incident, will serve a full five-year prison term.
The woman fell about 15-feet in the Kalalau Valley and suffered critical injures, but survived.
As part of his sentence, Klein will pay $20,000 to cover her medical bills.
