Police investigate vandalism at East Oahu park

A maintenance worker at Kamiloiki Neighborhood Park discovered the damage Wednesday morning.

Vandals cut out a large section of fencing.

They broke a water fountain pipe.

The vandals even removed a tree.

That tree was planted after another one was cut down by vandals two months ago.

“Kind of wasted energy, you know, instead of taking a tree, maybe put one in. It’s just kind of really pointless stuff because this is making more work for someone else, ” park user Boone Freund said.

The city says it doesn’t know how much the repairs will cost.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call police.
