A kayaker, who was reported missing Saturday night, returned to shore hours later.

The 50-year-old man was last seen around 7 p.m. in waters off Maili Beach Park on the Waianae coast.

With his family on the beach, he went kayaking at around 6 p.m. and the family called the Honolulu Fire Department to declare him missing at 8:42 p.m.

During the search by HFD and the Coast Guard, the kayaker returned at about 10 p.m.

He was reportedly acting erratic, not cooperative, and attempted to go back out into the ocean.

The family restrained him from doing so and was concerned about his behavior.

Honolulu police was called and Emergency Medical Services transported him to a nearby hospital.

No injuries were reported.
