Chrysler expands ignition switch recall

The automaker Chrysler is recalling nearly 700,000 vehicles due to an ignition switch problem similar to the one that forced General Motors to recall 2.6 million vehicles worldwide.

The chrysler recall affects more than a half million vehicles in the United States, which includes the Dodge Journey, Dodge Grand Caravans, and Chyrsler Town and Country Minivans made from 2007 to 2009.

Chrysler says jarring road conditions like say hitting a pothole can cause the vehicle’s key to slip out of the run position.

The company says no injuries related to the problem have been reported.
