The Dept. of Health’s Clean Water Branch has issued a brown water advisory for Wailua River and the mouth of Wailua Bay on Kauai.

State officials were notified by Surfrider Kauai Chapter late Tuesday that the river was very turbid despite little rain in the area.

Kauai County officials notified the CWB Wednesday of an apparent landslide at Mount Waialeale.

Video taken by Kauai Fire Dept.’s Rescue 3 helicopter shows a long trail of mud snaking through the trees.

The public is advised to stay out of Wailua River and the portion of Wailua Bay near the river mouth due to possible dead animals, fecal matter, broken trees, debris, overflowing cesspools, herbicide and/or pesticides.
