The democratic candidates for governor faced off Thursday night in their first televised debate.
Governor Neil Abercrombie and Senator David Ige took jabs against each other during a debate hosted by PBS Hawaii.
“I came in to a situation of fiscal chaos. I came into a situation where we had fiscal deficits, furloughs. The legislature had its opportunity to address that. But it didn’t,” Gov. Neil Abercrombie said.
“I am very confident that I understand what the role of the legislature is. I understand and see that we need a better executive,” Sen. David Ige said.
Abercrombie and Ige are battling for the Democratic ticket.
The primary election is on Saturday, Aug. 9.
