Honolulu firefighters are investigating multiple brush fires that erupted Friday night.

HFD officials say they responded to about a half dozen brush fires as of 9 p.m.

Brush fires erupted several areas including in Palolo, near the H-1 Freeway in the Kaimuki area, Kalaeloa, Makakilo, and Waianae, which was reportedly bigger than the other fires reported.

Officials say the cause of the fires is still under investigation, however because of the time and the Fourth of July holiday, it is possible it is fireworks related.

But in comparison to previous holidays, HFD said the number of brush fires was down greatly.
