An estimated 55,000 people were at Ala Moana Beach Park Friday night to watch the state’s largest Fourth of July fireworks show.
And thanks to police, who were directing cars, the traffic backup didn’t last long.
Officers made Piikoi Street one-way, heading away from the park.
They were also guiding traffic all the way down Piikoi Street to Lunalilo Street so that cars would have an easier time getting onto the freeway.
And Ala Moana Boulevard was closed from Piikoi Street to Atkinson Drive so that pedestrians could have an easier time crossing.
The fireworks show ended at about 8:45 p.m., and at 9:30 p.m. the officers left, since the traffic had already died down.
