One of the strongest typhoons to hit Japan is sweeping across the southern islands of Okinawa.
Typhoon Neoguri is packing towering waves, storm surges and destructive winds.
Local media reports say one woman was injured and a fisherman is missing after he was swept off a boat.
A Kaneohe resident studying abroad in Okinawa says the weather is getting progressively worse.
“It seems like it’s getting worse right now. I actually don’t have electricity right now. I feel pretty calm, I feel prepared, I feel safe, its not a problem,” Michael Krystoff said.
Officials say Typhoon Neoguri could be one of the strongest to hit Japan in decades.
