Maui police asks public’s help in locating missing person

Maui police are asking for the public’s help regarding a missing person case.

On Friday, July 4, at approximately 3 p.m., police and fire department personnel were called to the camp site known as Plenty Keawe in Kaupo.

Forty-four-year-old John Flavin was last seen sleeping in his vehicle at the Kaupo camp site. At approximately 9 a.m. Friday, friends camping with Flavin noticed he was missing. His vehicle was at the camp site, but there were no signs of him.

Police, fire department, and Air 1 Rescue searched for Flavin in the Kaupo are, but were unable to locate Flavin.

The Criminal Investigation Division is looking into this incident and an all-points bulletin has been issued for Flavin.

He is Caucasian, 5-foot-8, 190 lbs., with hazel eyes, brown hair, and was last seen wearing a dark colored T-shirt and tan shorts. His last known address is in Kula.
