No tsunami threat for Hawaii after 7.1-magnitude quake off Mexico


The U.S. Geological Survey reports there was a magnitude 7.1 earthquake near the coast of Chiapas, Mexico.

There is no tsunami threat to Hawaii according to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center.

It happened at about 1:24 a.m. Monday Hawaii time.

It was about 14.8 miles north of Chiapas.
