Lane closures for rail project start Sunday, through Friday

The Honolulu Authority for Rapid Transportation is informing the public about lane closures starting Sunday related to design and construction work for the Honolulu rail transit project.

H-1 FREEWAY WAIAWA INTERCHANGE

8:30 p.m.-4 a.m. Sunday to Thursday, July 17: Two southbound lanes of the H-2 Fwy. near the Waiawa Interchange (H-1/H-2 merge) for utility work.

AIRPORT/PEARL HARBOR

10 p.m.-5 a.m. Sunday to Thursday, July 17: Left eastbound lane of Aolele St. between the Airport Post Office and Aopoko Pl. for soil testing.

EWA

7 p.m.-5 a.m. Monday to Friday, July 18: Farrington Hwy. between Kualakai Pkwy. (North-South Road) and Old Fort Weaver Road for utility relocation work. Drivers traveling between East Kapolei and the Ewa/Waipahu region during the overnight closures will still be able to use either the H-1 Fwy. on the north end of Kualakai Pkwy., or Kapolei Pkwy. on the south end. That nightly detour will run until the end of July.

Left turns from Farrington Hwy. in Ewa onto Fort Weaver Road heading northbound will be restricted 24/7 through the end of July for column construction. Eastbound drivers using Farrington Hwy. will be asked to make a detour up Leoku St. to access Fort Weaver Road through either Leolua or Waipahu Sts.

WAIPAHU

8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Monday and Tuesday: The westbound lane of Ala Ike St. fronting Leeward Community College for construction preparation work.

8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Monday to Friday, July 18: The inside lanes of Farrington Hwy. near Kahualii St. fronting Waipahu High School for construction preparation work. The westbound left-turn pockets from Farrington Hwy. onto Waipio Point Access Road and Awanui St. will also be reduced during construction.

7 p.m.-6 a.m. Monday: The inside lanes of Farrington Hwy. between Mokuola St. and Waipahu Depot Road for construction preparation work.

7 p.m.-6 a.m. Monday to Friday, July 18: The eastbound lanes of Farrington Hwy. between Leokane St. and Pupukahi St. for utility work. The Leokane St. intersection will also be closed overnight during those hours.

7 p.m.-6 a.m. Tuesday: Alternating inside and outside lane closures along Farrington Hwy. near Waipahu High School for construction preparation work.

7 p.m.-6 a.m. Wednesday to Friday, July 18: The westbound lanes of Farrington Hwy. between Aniani Pl. and Waipahu Depot Road for utility work.

PEARL CITY

8 p.m.-7 a.m. Monday to Friday, July 18: Two westbound lanes and two eastbound lanes along Kamehameha Hwy. between Waiawa Road (near Leeward Community College) and Waimano Home Road for utility relocation/excavation work. Left turns at Waimano Home Road and Puu Momi St. will be restricted after 8 p.m. The outside eastbound lane of Kamehameha Hwy. in the same area will be closed weekdays from 7 a.m.-3:30 p.m. for utility relocation work.

8 p.m.-7 a.m. Monday to Friday, July 18: Two westbound lanes and one eastbound lane of Kamehameha Hwy. between Puu Poni St. and Kuleana Road. The inner eastbound lane of Kamehameha Hwy. in the same area, including the left turn lane at Kuleana Road, will be closed 24/7 for several weeks for utility work. Two westbound lanes will be closed on weekdays from 7 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

AIEA/ALOHA STADIUM

The inside eastbound lane of Kamehameha Hwy. between Hekaha and Kanuku Sts. will be closed 24/7 with restrictions of left turns.

The left eastbound lane of Kamehameha Hwy. between Lipoa Place and Pali Momi St. will be closed 24/7 for test shaft work.

8 p.m.-7 a.m. Monday to Friday, July 18: The inside eastbound and westbound lanes of Kamehameha Hwy. for equipment removal.

10 p.m.-4 a.m. Monday to Friday, July 18: Aiea Access Road between the Moanalua Fwy. on-ramp and Kamehameha Hwy. near Aloha Stadium. Southbound traffic will be detoured onto Moanalua Fwy. during the road closure.

The right eastbound lane of Kamehameha Hwy. between the Moanalua Fwy. on-ramp and Salt Lake Blvd. will be closed 24/7 for roadway widening and installation of utility lines for traffic signals. One westbound lane of Kamehameha Hwy. in the same vicinity will be closed 8:30 a.m.-3 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.-5:30 a.m. Monday to Friday, July 18.

KALIHI

7:30 p.m.-5 a.m. Monday to Friday, July 18: Left lanes of Dillingham Blvd. in both the eastbound and westbound directions between Kalihi St. and Waiakamilo Road for soil testing.

DOWNTOWN/KAKAAKO

8:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Monday to Friday, July 18: Right lane of Halekauwila St. in both the eastbound and westbound directions between Mililani and Keawe Sts. for soil testing.
