Repair work on broken Kailua sewer line to last for a week

kailua road sewer work sinkhole

The city announced Tuesday that construction crews are expected to be working around the clock for an estimated week’s time to fix a broken sewer line in Kailua that likely caused a sinkhole Friday morning.

Motorists are advised to use caution and expect delays driving into Kailua town this week as repairs continue at the intersection of Hamakua Dr. and Kailua Road.

At least two lanes on Kailua Road will be closed coming into the Windward town.

A pump bypass is set up around the construction site to keep wastewater flowing to the Kailua Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant.
