Southern swell creates high surf advisory

south shore high surf

Surf has been as high as eight feet along all south-facing shores Tuesday, generating a high surf advisory until 6 a.m. Wednesday.

While recreational surfers have been enjoying this south swell, swimmers might find it difficult to be in the water through tonight due to strong breaking waves and rip curents.

The surf, however, will gradually decrease in size through the end of the week.

No other large swells are expected.

A storm east of New Zealand last week is responsible for the current swell.
