Japan-America Society of Hawaii has selected Lenny Yajima to serve as president starting Oct. 1.
Her career history includes serving as President/Executive Director of the Japanese Cultural Center of Hawaii from 2007 to 2012. She also held a variety of sales and marketing positions in Hawaii. She is a graduate of Punahou School and Harvard University with 25 years of experience in marketing and public relations.
She has served as chair of the Honolulu Japanese Junior Chamber of Commerce’s 40th Cherry Blossom festival, and represented Hawaii’s AJA community, nationally, and internationally, as queen of the 34th Cherry Blossom Festival. She also was the spokesperson for the Honolulu Festival Foundation for several years.
She replaces Ed Hawkins who held the position for eight years before retiring.
