Father beats accused child abuser, Daytona police say

Dad beats man unconscious after finding him sexually abusing boy

UPDATE from WESH: The father says police reports that Frolander was abusing the boy for the last three years are wrong. He claims there was an attempt three years ago that he didn’t know about, but then Frolander left town and only recently returned.

DAYTONA BEACH, FL. (WKMG/CNN) – Police say a Daytona Beach father beat an 18-year-old man unconscious after finding him sexually abusing his son. The father was not identified.

Raymond Frolander said nothing as he went before a judge, but his face may have said it all with black eyes, bruises, and a busted lip after he was beaten by the father of the child he’s accused of molesting.

“I just walked in and found a grown man molesting my… and I’ve got him in a bloody puddle for you right now officer,” the father said on a 911 recording.

That father told a 911 operator that he walked into his apartment just after midnight and caught Frolander with his 11-year-old son.

“He’s nice and knocked out on the floor for you. I drug him into the living room… Send him an ambulance. He’s going to need one,” the father said.

In the 911 call, the father said he trusted Frolander who had been alone with his son before.

“He’s curled into the fetal position in a puddle of blood on my floor, and I loved him up until 15 minutes ago,” the father said.

The 11-year-old later told child protective investigators that Frolander has molested him since he was 8 years old.

“And you have someone you trust around your son. An 18-year-old person who you trust around your son. And your basic instinct to protect your kid and the anger. As I father, I understand what he was doing,” Daytona Beach police Chief Mike Chitwood said.

Frolander is being held without bail. The arrest affidavit says Frolander admitted the abuse.
