On Hawaii Island, the Aunty Maile/Moku O Hawaii Championships canoe regatta is ongoing Saturday and this evening’s Relay for Life of Hilo on behalf of the American Cancer Society is scheduled to go on.
Mike Atwood of the Kai O Pua Canoe Club reports that rains have been relatively light in the Hilo Bay area, coming down from overcast skies.
The regatta will end around 5 p.m.
A spokeswoman for the relay says that even if it rains heavily Saturday, the event will go on as scheduled at 6 p.m., with the start at Francis Wong Stadium.
Only in the event of lightning will the relay be cancelled.
