There’s a new addition in Aiea, as hundreds gathered Saturday to be the first into the brand new Aiea Public Library.
The library sits on the former location of the Aiea Sugar Mill on Aiea Heights Road.
The new library is almost twice the size of the old Aiea library, which closed last month. It also features a new meeting room that’s open for the community to use.
Library branch manager Baron Baroza said that “because the community is so involved and dedicated, we know they’re going to make use of it and we know they’re going to utilize our building as a community.
“So that’s what I think makes this particular branch special.”
Aside from a ton of books, the library has free wi-fi,12 computers, plus a lot more parking.
In total, the new library costs just under $10.5 million.
