Early morning armed robbery at Aiea McDonald’s

Honolulu police are investigating an early morning armed robbery at a fast-food restaurant in Aiea.

According to police, a man wearing a mask entered the McDonald’s near Pearl Kai Shopping Center with a weapon at about 4:30 a.m. Monday. Police say the suspect made off with an undisclosed amount of money.

No one was injured.

Monday morning’s robbery comes a week after a similar crime at a Jack in the Box in Waipahu. In that case, police were called to the scene at about 4:40 a.m.

According to police, the suspect forced himself into the store and threatened a worker at the drive-thru.

He got some cash and took off. The worker was not hurt.

Police are not saying if the two crimes are related.
