Woman charged with downtown murder of homeless woman

Honolulu police have opened a homicide investigation after an assault in downtown Honolulu led to the death of a 46-year old homeless woman.

The incident was reported just after 4:30 a.m. Monday on Bishop Street near Adams Lane.

According to police, Kimberly Udo, 42, was arrested after physically assaulting the woman on Bishop Street.

The woman was transported to the hospital in extremely critical and later died. The Honolulu Medical Examiner later identified her as Sandra Wollaston.

An autopsy revealed she died from blunt force injuries to her head and neck.

“Officers located a suspect nearby, who was subsequently identified and arrested,” said Peter Doyle, a detective with the Honolulu Police Department.

On Tuesday, Udo was charged with second-degree murder and remains behind bars. Bail has been set at $500,000.
