Experts say these days, the key weapon in any company’s arsenal to fight crime is a good camera system.
One company in Kaimuki has been doing brisk business and has seen a 30 percent increase in sales over the past three months.
While a camera can capture an image, it can also serve another purpose to fight crime.
“We usually use more visible cameras for the exterior of a building,” said Matt Lau, service coordinator, Cam Security. “That way they’ll know that there’s a camera there and it’s less likely for somebody to try something if they will be captured on film.”
Cameras can be tailored to perform a variety of functions, including tracking the motion of someone in its range, capturing images at night and taking photos from as far as 500 feet away.
For those who have a security camera already in place, experts urge companies to make sure they are in good working order, and pointed at the areas that need to be secured.
