Tropical Storm Genevieve forms in Pacific, moving westward

The National Hurricane Center says Tropical Storm Genevieve is moving west at about 10 mph.

The storm has formed in the eastern Pacific about 1,420 miles east-southeast of the Big Island.

Forecasters say maximum sustained wind speed is 40 knots with gusts to 50 knots. Little change in strength is forecast during the next 48 hours.

There are no coastal watches or warnings in effect.
