Kapolei fire intentionally set, arson investigation opened

Honolulu police have opened an arson investigation after officials determined a two-alarm fire in Kapolei was intentionally set.

The initial alarm came in just before 3:30 p.m. on Monday, July 28, from Saratoga Avenue and Boxer Road, near Kalaeloa Airport.

Fire officials say crews arrived and found an abandoned structure fully involved, a second structure that was partially involved and a brushfire that burned a one-block area.

Officials said there were multiple ignition sources.

There were no injuries and no other structures were threatened.
