University of Hawaii freshman wide receiver Devan Stubblefield suffered torn ligaments in his left knee during the first practice of fall camp Monday and will miss the 2014 season.
“It’s unfortunate and we feel so badly for the young man,” head coach Norm Chow said. “He was one of our top prospects and we really felt he could help us this season. He still promises to be an outstanding player for us and we wish him a full recovery. It’s just a bump in the road and someone will need to step up.”
Stubblefield was a highly recruited prospect from Saint Louis School. The first-team all-state athlete finished his senior season with 861 yards receiving and 12 touchdowns in 2013.
The Ewa Beach, Oahu native was also a standout baseball player and sprinter for the Crusader track and field team.
