In the wake of Iselle and Julio, Oahu residents can learn how to better prepare for the threat of disaster at a free fair next month.
The 4th Annual Get Ready Ewa Beach Emergency Preparedness Fair will educate residents on preparing families and pets for emergencies including natural and manmade disasters, even school lockdowns.
The fair will feature a scaled down emergency shelter unit for people to walk through and give away more than $10,000 worth of preparedness items.
The fair will take place on Saturday, September 6, 9 a.m.-1 p.m., at Ewa Makai Middle School, 91-6291 Kapolei Parkway. Admission is free.
Participating organizations include the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), City & County of Honolulu’s Department of Emergency Management, The Bus, Hawaiian Electric Company, The American Red Cross, Honolulu Fire and Police, and many other private and public vendors.
