Saint Louis takes on number two ranked team in country

HALAWA- The Cover-2 Power Poll’s sixth ranked Saint Louis Crusaders are in for another challenge this week. After their 63-47 loss to Mililani last week, Coach Cal Lee’s squad takes on St. John Bosco, the number two ranked team in the country (USA Today), Friday night at Aloha Stadium.

“It’s good because Bosco is going to be another good game where we get to look at the personal we’re playing against,” said Coach Lee. “We always looking for evaluating our players, after Bosco we’ll find out who’s going to be the real starters for the league which will start the following week.”

The Crusaders will determine who will be the starting quarterback for league play after this game. Ryder Kuhns, the starter against Mililani, was 12-of-22 with 157 yards and one touchdown and two interceptions. Tua Tagovailoa, who came in after Kuhns against Mililani, was 18-of-28 for 198 yards with five touchdowns and 68 yards rushing in the opener against the Trojans (scoringlive.com).

Under center for the St. John Bosco Braves is the nation’s top quarterback prospect Josh Rosen (rivals.com). The UCLA commit led the Braves (16-0-0) to the CIF Open Bowl Championship and passed for 3200 yards with 39 touchdowns last season for the Braves.

Historically, Coach Lee has always done well against teams from the continental United States. During his last coaching stint with Saint Louis, the Crusaders were 13-1-1 against mainland teams. The only team that beat the Crusaders while under Lee was Canyon County of California, which snapped Saint Louis’s 55-game winning streak (scoringlive.com).

The Crusaders and the Braves face off Friday night at Aloha Stadium at 7:30p.m.
