SAN JOSE, CA (KTVU/CNN) – San Francisco 49ers’ defensive lineman Ray McDonald has been arrested on domestic violence charges.
Police in San Jose, California, say they were called early Sunday morning to McDonald’s home on domestic violence allegations.
KTVU reports that several of McDonald’s 49er teammates were at his house at the time of the arrest.
“The truth will come out. I can’t say too much right now but, the truth will come out. Everybody knows the kind of person I am,” McDonald said.
McDonald’s arrest comes just three days after the NFL instituted a new domestic violence policy.
A first offense results in a six-game unpaid ban, a second could result in a lifetime ban from the league.
San Francisco 49ers General Manager Trent Baalke released a statement saying the team is aware of the reports but won’t comment further until it gathers the facts in the case.
