A man accused of sexually assaulting several women over a span of a few months has pleaded guilty to seven counts of sex assault — five counts of first-degree sex assault and two counts of second-degree sex assault.
Asofitu Fio also pleaded guilty to three counts of burglary, three counts of kidnapping and one count of first-degree attempted sex assault.
Fio was arrested last December at his home in Liliha.
According to court documents, Fio raped a woman inside her home on Cedar Street on December 1.
Documents say he rang the doorbell and, when she answered her door, pushed his way inside, covered her face and beat her up before sexually assaulting her.
A week later, police canvassed the neighborhood and spotted Fio matching the description of her attacker.
The next day, officers went to Fio’s workplace and got a DNA mouth swab sample.
Lab results revealed his DNA matched DNA found on the victim.
