The Hawaii Emergency Management Agency will be conducting siren testing on Kauai from Wednesday, Sept. 3, to Friday, Sept. 5.
The siren testing schedule (subject to minor changes) is:
Wednesday, Sept. 3
- Vidinha Stadium and the old Lihue Police Station (Lihue Ballpark), 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
- Isenberg Field and Lydgate Park, 1 to 5:00 p.m.
Thursday, Sept. 4, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Kauai Veterans Cemetery
- Shipwreck’s Beach
- Kapaa High School
- Aliomanu Estates
- Anini Pavilion
Friday, Sept. 5, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Possible follow-up testing at the above locations, as needed.
Residents in these areas may hear the siren sound for six to eight 30-second to one-minute intervals during the identified timeframe. Testing will include checks of the public address system and short blasts known as “burps.” Technicians are testing to ensure that recent work on these sirens was completed properly.
