Settlement reached in Kailua toddler’s death after dentist visit

A settlement has been reached in the case of a three-year-old Kailua girl who died after a visit to the dentist.

On Dec. 3, 2013, Finley Boyle suffered a heart attack during a root canal at Dr. Lilly Geyer’s office at Island Dentistry for Children. She slipped into a coma and died one month later.

According to the medical examiner’s office, a combination of sedatives and anesthesia administered prior to and during the procedure played a role in her death.

The terms of the settlement between the girl’s family and Dr. Geyer’s insurance company have not been disclosed.
