ABILENE, TX (KTXS/CNN) — A 23-year-old man was hospitalized after crashing into a sign at Betty Hardwick Center late last night.
The driver was believed have been traveling at a high rate of speed, southbound on South Clack St., when he lost control and wrapped his truck around the sign.
Residents from the apartment complex next door heard the accident and went outside to help.
The driver was alert and talking when the Abilene Police Department arrived on the scene.
He was transported to Hendrick Medical Center.
The driver was treated and released from the hospital.
Police are awaiting toxicology tests before determining whether the driver will be charged with a DWI.
They do believe speed and alcohol were contributing factors.
