(KARE/CNN) – Adrian Peterson will be back in uniform this week for the Minnesota Vikings.
The team announced Monday that the running back will participate in practice this week and is expected to play Sunday against the New Orleans Saints.
Peterson was deactivated from yesterday’s game against the New England Patriots after he was indicted by a Texas grand jury on a child abuse charge.
He’s accused of spanking his young son with a tree branch.
Peterson turned himself in to authorities on Saturday and was released after posting $15,000 bail.
In a statement, the Minnesota Vikings said the decision to reinstate him was made after “significant thought, discussion and consideration.”
Team owners say they will let the case go through the legal process, but will “continue to monitor the situation closely.”
The NFL is also reviewing the incident under the league’s personal conduct policy.
