Improvements continue at Diamond Head State Monument to make the attraction safer for visitors.
The state is building the multi-use Fort Ruger Pathway, next to Diamond Head/Monsarrat Drive, that will run along the exterior slopes of the monument to be used by cyclists and pedestrians.
“This is the last part of the Fort Ruger Pathway,” said Dan Quinn of the DLNR Division of State Parks. “We’re completing the infrastructure, or the pathway itself, from where we stand now, back over and connecting to Diamond Head Road and putting in some landscaping along the whole length.”
The Diamond Head Foundation also installed some exercise equipment that’s open to public use.
Work is expected to be completed by March 2015.
