A woman who once managed the Oahu Transit Services Federal Credit union will now spend 15 months in prison.
Dona Takushi was shielded by family and friends as she left the federal courthouse.
Takushi and two other employees stole nearly $500,000 from the credit union.
She was also ordered to pay more than $78,000 in restitution.
“All her supporters, who are here today, are very perplexed because what happened in this case is completely inconsistent with the individual, whom they know. But this was a period of time where she kind of went off the tracks,” Takushi’s attorney Howard Luke said.
Takushi told the judge she was living above her means during the five year theft period.
She’ll start serving her sentence in two weeks.
