Hawaiian Telcom has set up a direct toll-free line for Puna customers to call and request that their calls be temporarily forwarded to another number, landline or cell phone.
The number is 643-1100, available daily from 7 a.m.-5 p.m., and this service comes free of charge.
The utility will also waive any applicable fees for Puna customers who are permanently transferring their service to a new location.
As part of a plan to ensure service continuity, Hawaiian Telcom has laid more than 40,000 feet of fiber along a new route. The company will continue to lay fiber as roads are completed and the power company has positioned new utility poles.
