AUSTIN (KXAN) — Six years after losing her dog, Grisel Jaramillo and her beloved Bailey reunited inside the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport terminal Thursday night, where there was more licking going on than at a lollipop convention.
Jaramillo, a Round Rock nursing student, says the Yorkie disappeared six years ago from her yard and believes someone may have snatched him. He recently turned up in Indianapolis, and a check of his microchip traced the pooch back to Jaramillo. She couldn’t believe it. Maybe Bailey couldn’t either.
“I’m so excited, I don’t know what to say,” Jaramillo said before his homecoming plane landed in Austin. “I never thought this would happen. I just hope he remembers me.”
Bailey was always a licker, and if he began licking Jaramillo she would know he remembered her. No worry there.
“We are so glad to have him home,” she said fighting back tears. “We’ll let him rest tonight, Friday we’ll have him checked out at the vet and then have a little party at home.”
“I don’t know, I wondered if they ever checked microchips when so much time went by, but they did and he’s home now,” Jaramillo added. “We’re very happy.”
Bailey looked pretty happy too. While Texans may leave for a while, they always come home to Texas. And Bailey is home.
