UH business school receives large private donation

The University of Hawaii business school received Friday morning one of the largest private individual donations in the history of college education.

The namesake of the Shidler College of Business, UH alumnus Jay Shidler, who originally gave $31 million to the school back in 2006, has given an additional $69 million dollars to the school.

“I’ve now decided to expand my support to $100 million,” Shidler said, “and because of the transformation that I have seen here at the Shidler College of Business having exceeded all my expectations, I’m inspired by the remarkable event and I promise it will continue into the future.”

With a total of $100 million committed to the UH business college, school officials plan to expand facilities and student scholarships.
