Pedestrian struck by vehicle earlier this week dies

Honolulu police reports that a pedestrian died Saturday after being struck by a vehicle Wednesday morning on Fort Weaver Road.

At 5:50 a.m. Wednesday, an adult male pedestrian, who was not in a crosswalk, was struck by a vehicle traveling south on Fort Weaver Road, 100 feet north of Laulaunui Street.

While the pedestrian was taken to an area hospital reportedly in good condition, he later died on Saturday.

A female driver with an Ewa Beach address was involved, and it is unknown whether speed or alcohol were factors in the accident. An investigation is ongoing.

The pedestrian death marks the 51st traffic fatality on Oahu this year, compared to 46 at the same time last year.
