Kona man charged in pharmacy robbery

Phillip W. Hart

Hawaii Island police have charged a 55-year-old Kona man in a robbery at a pharmacy in Kailua-Kona.

It happened at around 8:35 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 25, at Mina Pharmacy, on the corner of Kuakini Highway and Walua Road.

Authorities say Phillip W. Hart threatened to blow the pharmacy up unless he was given drugs, then fled after he was given undisclosed medication.

At 9 a.m., officers located Hart on the property of a nearby condominium on Walua Road and arrested him after a short foot pursuit.

On Sunday, he was charged with second-degree robbery. His bail was set at $5,000.
