According to the Hawaiian Electric Company, a failed transformer has caused a power outage at the Ward Centers Thursday afternoon affecting the Hawaii International Film Festival’s opening night.
According to HECO, power was restored to the area around 7:30 p.m.
The outage occurred around 3 p.m.
HIFF’s showings scheduled for today were either cancelled or had a change in venue to the Regal Dole Cannery theaters.
According to HIFF’s Twitter account, the screening of “The Vancouver Asahi” was moved to Dole theaters with a new start time of 8:30 p.m. The screening of “The Hip Hop Fellow” was cancelled.
The power outage affects Ward Stadium 16 theaters, Men’s Warehouse and other retailers in the area.
HECO hopes to restore power to the area around 8 p.m.
