Emergency medical personnel and Ocean Safety lifeguards attended to two near-drownings off East Honolulu shores.
The first call came in at 2:16 p.m., as a 69-year-old man was pulled from the water by lifeguards with no pulse. The incident happened across from the McDonald’s on Kalakaua Avenue.
CPR was first performed on the swimmer by lifeguards and his pulse and breathing returned.
EMS arrived and took over treatment before he was transported to an emergency room.
At 3:30 p.m., a swimmer was found unresponsive off Ala Moana Beach Park.
A surfer and another swimmer helped bring the man in his late 60s to shore.
CPR was administered by lifeguards until emergency medical personnel arrived to take over.
The swimmer was transported to an emergency room in critical condition.
