A Coast Guardsman was convicted Thursday of committing a lewd act on a minor and other violations of the Uniform Code of Military Justice during a general court-martial at the Hawaii District Court.
Petty Officer 1st Class Shane E. Reese was found guilty of the lewd act that was committed on Oahu between January and May 2013 on Oahu.
Reese was also found guilty for threats to the young victim, for making false official statements during the course of the investigation, and for wrongful possession, distribution and use of marijuana.
He was sentenced to five years confinement in a military brig, a dishonorable discharge, forfeiture of all pay and allowances, and a reduction to pay grade E-1, the military’s lowest enlisted grade.
While awaiting court-martial, Reese served at Coast Guard Air Station Barbers Point as an aviation maintenance technician and was assigned to the unit at the time of the offenses.
