HONOLULU – The University of Hawai’i Rainbow Wahine volleyball team will play its final home matches this week, facing UC Riverside on Friday, Nov. 28 and UC Davis on Saturday, Nov. 29 in a pair of Big West Conference matches at the Stan Sheriff Center. Both start times are set for 8:00 p.m. following the UH women’s basketball games.
The ‘Bows (19-6, 11-3 BWC) won a pair of must-win road matches this past weekend. They staved off a furious rally to beat UC Santa Barbara in five sets then the next night, after dropping the first set, dominated Cal Poly to win in four.
Outside hitter Nikki Taylor made history on Saturday, becoming the first UH player in the rally scoring error to record a triple-double. Her 10-kill, 10-dig, 11-block performance earned her Big West Defensive Player of the Week honors and also set a personal career high in blocks. Kalei Greeley was rewarded for her efforts as well, earning Freshman of the Week honors after posting two double-doubles this past weekend.
The ‘Bows also returned to the AVCA Top 25 national poll (No. 25) this week after a seven-week hiatus. They also remained at No. 30 in the latest NCAA RPI for the fifth straight week.
Saturday’s match will be Senior Night as Kalei Adolpho and Sarah Mendoza will be honored for their contributions to Rainbow Wahine volleyball.
